Locally Grown Online Markets

Farmers Markets are a wonderful source of fresh, local products but they are seasonal. CSAs are great but not flexible. Locally Grown online markets are offered year round, there are no contracts and no weekly commitment. Each market has a growing list of local farmers and businesses that they work with to provide you and your family real, clean and healthy foods and products.

JavaGenesis Coffee Roasting participates in a number of Locally Grown markets each week. It’s a great way to get the coffee you love and lots of other great produce, milk, eggs, meat and other locally produced products.

Coffee Flight 2014

You’ve all heard of tasting beer or wine in ‘flights’. Coffee Flight 2014 is our take on that concept. We will be bringing in special coffees throughout the year from small production farms or micro-lots. This is a chance to enjoy some really exceptional coffees that are very limited production or are from places that we don’t normally source coffees.

Here’s how it will work…we will bring in the coffees one at a time, profile them and begin roasting production batches. When that coffee is gone we will move to the next one. We will only have about 50-60# of the green coffee for each of these, which will yield about 35-40# after profiling and roasting, so get them while we have them!

Searching for coffees from around the world and experiencing the amazing flavors and differences in the coffees is what started us down the path, 15 years ago, of home roasting and ultimately opening a roastery. Now we can share a little of our journey with you through Coffee Flight 2014.

First up…Rwanda Karongi Gitesi. The cupping notes describe the taste as rose hips, mandarin orange, raw cane sugar, vanilla cream, cinnamon bark, and honeyed finish.

Where is the Sumatra Lintong?

You may notice that we are no longer offering the Sumatra Lintong coffee.  What happened to it?  Coffee is an agricultural crop and just like the fantastic produce available now, coffee crops have seasons.  When the coffee produced and picked for a season is gone, we have to wait until the next harvest season to buy into the new crop.  This seasons crop of Sumatra Lintong is ripening on the trees now, but unfortunately has already been purchased by a single buyer.  Sadly, we will no longer be able to carry this coffee.
The good news is that we found a great coffee with a similar flavor profile to offer in its place.  The Java Ciwidey from West Java, Indonesia is a dark roast coffee with rich, bold flavor and  good body.  We loved this coffee as soon as we tasted it on the cupping table.  We think you will love it to!!
If you would like to taste the Java Ciwidey stop by our farmers market table.  You can find our current market schedule on our blog.

Want to see how we roast your coffee?  Stop by the roastery on Sunday, January 13, 2013 any time between 10am and 3pm to see how we take your coffee from green coffee beans to packaged for you.

People asked us all summer how we roast, where we roast and where we get our green coffee. We are very excited to invite everyone to hang out with us and see what we do.  We will fire up the roaster, brew some coffee and show you around.

This will also be a great time to pick up a bag or two of coffee.  Let us know what you would like to take home with you and we will have it ready for you.

Roastery address:

741 Harry McCarty Road, Unit 102, Bethlehem, GA 30620

See you on the 13th!!

Join us for our Fall Cupping Event – November 10, 2012

DSC_0061Think of a coffee cupping like a wine tasting.  It’s an opportunity to taste coffees from around the world, side-by-side.

A coffee cupping can be very serious business to people who evaluate and buy coffees for a living, but that’s not how we do them at JavaGenesis.  This will be a relaxed, fun event and becomes quite social as we all move around the cupping table discussing what we smell and taste in the different coffees.

Don’t worry if you’ve never been to a cupping, we will show you and tell you what you need to do.  It’s all about tasting great coffees, learning more about coffee and of course having fun.

We will roast up some of our regular inventory, some coffees from our personal inventory and we will have a few new coffees from our importers.  We would like your help deciding which of these new coffees to add to our inventory.

If you would like to join us, please RSVP to juanice@javagenesiscoffeeroasting.com.  We will limit the event to 10 people so that we can ensure you have the best experience possible.

Saturday, November 10, 2012, 10am

All events are held at our roastery located at 741 Harry McCarty Road, Unit 102, Bethlehem, GA 30620.
